I am 43 male. my cholestrol is 202 mg and high blood pressure in control. how to minimise cholestreol?

That is a perfect cholesterol number. Make sure your ratio of HDL to total is good. Worry about triglycerides more. They are easily lowered by eating a low carb diet. High fat is also good if you avoid trans-fats and rancid vegetable oils. Most vegetable oils are unstable due to the double bonds and thus turn rancid easily. Heating as in deep frying is fatal, but you already know deep fat frying is bad, you just did not know why. Follow the docs advice and you will be on statin drugs for sure. The low fat diet DOES NOT WORK. Ask them how many patients lower their cholesterol with diet alone. When the diet does not work they claim it is genetic. The only genetic high cholesterol is always in the 400 plus range.

there are several medications your doctor can prescribe to aid in lowering your cholesterol but you MUST start eating more healthfully and exercising in order for them to really make a difference. try cutting down on red meat, full-fat dairy products and fried foods. also, cardiovascular workouts are what you need, (as opposed to weightlifting, etc) so running or even jumping rope for 20 minutes a day or 45 minutes 3 or 4 days a week will be beneficial. that alone will help; the medications that are available are able to asisst in lowering the number, but only if taken secondary to a healthy lifestyle change. good luck!I am 43 male. my cholestrol is 202 mg and high blood pressure in control. how to minimise cholestreol?
It is not only total cholestrol that counts, you must check your lipid profile for HDL AND LDL , the total level of 202 mg is on the top border order you may avoid fried food, go for fiberous food, Add brisk walking 30 minutes all days a week, Avoid fats, you will be all right. It is your body and you have to be religious towards it. Look, you can bring it in the normal range. I am sure you would.
Avoid all fried stuff, junk food and meat.Chicken and salmon are fine.Eat plenty of sprouted lentils which are rich in proteins and contain hardly any fat.Fruits and salads will be filling and fat free. However fruits like grapes etc.have

high calories and should be eaten in moderate quantities.Above all, take brisk walks for at least half an hour everyday without fail. You will be surprised when you check your cholesterol levels after three months. No cheating please.

If the levels still are high, you should consult with a qualified physician and ask him/her about

prescribing statins for you.Lovastatin,

simvastatin, atorvastatin are some drugs which are known cholesterol busters.
The best way to cut cholesterol is to eat healthy normal low fat diets; exercise, walk for at least 1/2 hour a day.

Pomegranate extracts are known as one of the best supplements to cut LDL (bad cholesterol) and improve HDL (healthy cholesterol) and are proven to fight atherosclerosis.

Cheers!
