Do they make birth control pills if you have high blood pressure?

You shouldn't take combined hormonal contraceptives (those containing both estrogen and progesterone) if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure. You might be able to use combined hormonal contraceptives if you have controlled high blood pressure--you take blood pressure medications.

Hormonal contraceptives that only contain progesterone and not estrogen are safe if you have high blood pressure. These would include progesterone-only pills, the Mirena IUD, Implanon, and depo-provera.
