How to control High Blood Pressure?

I am a 24 year old male. Both my parents have high blood pressure. I first realized that I had high blood pressure (160/90) when I was 22. When I went to the doctor I was told that I was too young to take any medication and was told to eat healthy and exercise regularly. Now my blood pressure fluctuates a lot ranging from 120/68 to 160/110. But normally its around 140/90. I have been eathing healthy and exercising regularly, but I don't see any significant reduction in my blood pressure. Any advice would be highly appreciated. How to control High Blood Pressure?
Three top ways to lower blood pressure:

Try to cut out as much salt as possible.

Drink lots of water.

Get plenty of aerobic exercise.

Sounds like you are doing these. Get a second opinion from another doctor. If non-medicine methods aren't working, then medication is needed. How to control High Blood Pressure?
I'm surprised your doctor told you you're too young. Given your family history and the fact you're watching your diet and exercising and still have high readings, I would think trying a low dose of medications would be in order. Are you under a lot of stress regularly? Perhaps you should seek a second medical opinion. Also, there are some tests that should be run to rule out certain pre-existing diseases and conditions.
relaxation and meditation techniques.

you could try yoga or some other form of physical relaxation.

i would actually recommend some sort of breathing form

(ala anna coy's work) but when you relax, your body's tissues let go of the water they have been retaining. The ';fight or flight'; response causes your body to retain water. True relaxation allows your body to let go of the preparation for hardship.

I would say find some sort of relaxing practice that you do each

day to teach yourself/your body how to truly relax. Advanced

yogis can easily do things like control their blood pressure and heart rate. sounds like you could benefit from that.

you might also consider biofeedback to learn how to control

your body for this purpose.

How does the air flow rate controlled by the orifice differential pressure affect the make up rate of water?

cooling towerHow does the air flow rate controlled by the orifice differential pressure affect the make up rate of water?
What orifice are you referring to?

The make up rate of a cooling tower is dependent on the heat load on the tower. Fans pull ambient air through the tower, contacting the water droplets of the tower spray from the distribution nozzles. The cooling does not necessarily occur by just lowering the temp of the water. Most of the cooling occurs by the process of evaporation of the circulating water. Water is not blown out the top of the tower. Water vapor is exiting the top of the tower. For every pound of water evaporated, you remove about 1000 BTU of heat from the cooling water system.

Suppose that a steam plant is operating a steam turbine generator, with a steam flow of 300,000 lbm/hr. The exhaust of the steam turbine is dumped to a condenser to be condensed back into water to be reused by thte boiler. To condense the steam, you must remove 1000 btu (this is called the latent heat of vaporization) from each pound of steam. This heat is transferred to the cooling water flowing through the condenser. Its flow rate (in pounds/hr) is much higher than that of the steam. Now, the heat must be removed from the cooling water in the tower. In fact we must remove the heat equal to the latent heat that was present in the steam before it was condensed. That means that we must evaporate 300,000 pound/hr of our cooling water, which means we are losing about 600 gallons of water per minute. That's a lot of water to be made up!How does the air flow rate controlled by the orifice differential pressure affect the make up rate of water?
The air flow rate is controlled by the orifice. Change in the orifice causes change in the differential pressure, which is how it controls the flow of air. More differential pressure, less air, less differential pressure, more air.

In a cooling tower, the make up water is the water used to replace the water lost in the cooling process.

So there are two mechanism by which the air flow rate could alter the rate of water make up.

The first is that the more air there is, the more water is caught up in the air flow, and leaves the tower.

The second is that the more air there is, the more cooling is done by air, and not the water, so the demand for water decreases.

It depends on the design of the tower whether the first or second mechanism has the greater effect.

If the tower is relatively large and the air velocity small, this ensures that very little water escapes, the second mechanism is dominant, and as air increases, water usage decreases.

If it is small, and the air velocity high, more water will be drawn out of the tower if more air is used, so the consumption goes up and not down.

Where can I find a Toro lawn sprinkler controller that is controlled by water pressure instead of low voltage?

The system was installed around 1976, and has worked great. My problem is the zone dial has a hair line crack and is leaking water. I do not want to go electric, because I have no idea where the valves are at with out digging up the yard.Where can I find a Toro lawn sprinkler controller that is controlled by water pressure instead of low voltage?
I am not sure what you want - anything that is pressure-activated would seem to defeat the purpose of your timer, unless you are suggesting a low-pressure cut-off?

But you have several options to control water-flow if that is the only issue and if the zone dial cannot be repaired. We keep four of the units listed below that allow us to pretty much custom-program our soaker hoses for their location, type of plantings, length of hose and time of day. We stagger them so not more than one runs at any given time and they operate irrespective of pressure and load. Replace the one 9V battery each year and you are done. There is also a manual on/off option if needed.

Similar units exist for hard-plumbing directly into the feed line, or one of these may be installed with the correct fittings if you are operating a central irrigation system.

I am a 23 years old male and couple a weeks ago I found out that I have

a high blood pressure.I have been working out for about 5 years now

and I used many different supplements like creatine, protein, amino acids

and caffeine staff. Three weeks ago I didn;t feel good and I went to

the ER cuz my BP was 150/98 and they did a blood test and said that I am

ok and there is nothing wrong with my kidneys, heart, liver and I am

healthy, but couple a days after same thing happend and I had to go back

to the ER with the same BP readings. I got very scared, they checked

me out again and they said anxiety is the problem. The doc

put me on 1mg Xanax pills for the anxiety and said that I ll be fine .Next day I

called cardiologist and went to see him, he sent me for additional blood

tests and urine tests and EKG and ECHO cardiogram also. When the

results came he called me and he said that everything is compliteley normal.

I stoped all supplements and work out. My BP is stil going up and

For blood pressure do these exercises everyday. You will see the benefits within days, as you can check BP yourself.Continue the exercise once a day, after you are better. You may be able to reduce/stop your medication over longer term, although the doctor will say you have be on medication for life.

Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.

you made a very good decision to stop taking different kinds of supplements. Some of those supplements have stuff in them that causes your heart to beat fast and make the blood pressure rise. Sounds like you are in good health. Your numbers are less than borderline. give the supplements time to get out of your system, then monitor how your bp does. If it has not gone down after a month of being off the supplements, then go back to your doctor.
Stop taking stimulants like that caffeine thing.
I have blood pressure problems too. I take a pill.

Go to www.healtline.com it might help you
You are right to be concerned... your BP is elevated. This can lead to many other health problems. That's why it's important to control it.

I'm assuming you have a home monitor? Is that where you're getting your readings?

Before taking a reading you should wait for 30 minutes after exercising, smoking, having caffeine or alcohol. Then sit quietly for five minutes. Take two readings about 3 to 5 minutes apart.

If possible, take readings several times throughout the week at different times of the day. A BP log can be found on this page: http://www.smart-heart-living.com/high-b鈥?/a>

You'll also find lots of other information about BP, what is considered high BP, a link to find home monitors.

But most importantly for you there are tips and links to ways you can control your blood pressure.

Good Luck!
The fear you're getting may really be more linked to anxiety than your blood pressure. You just happen to be checking your blood pressure to see if that's what's causing the stress you feel. People's blood pressure can change a lot more than yours and still not feel it. Your blood pressure is on the high side, but there is a lot of variation in blood pressure in a population of healthy people.

Just take care of your body and really try to lower the anxiety. I think you're pretty convinced that something is wrong with your body, but you may just be anxious--especially if you've had so many tests and they still think you're fine.

Depends on it's cause. Changing diet, doing relaxation techniques, or petting a cat or dog will all reduce blood pressure.
Yes, exercise and eat a diet high in protein, low in salt and fats. Salt in small amounts is ok, but even small amounts can raise blood pressure. Get a check up. You may have other issues causing your high blood pressure.
Yoga and pranayama will help you. But one should find out the reason for the BP first. It can be due to pathological or psychological reasons. You can take one rudved ayurvedic capsule daily as a preventive. Or drink Noni herbal fruit juice twice a day in water.
Hello:

High Blood Pressure a.k.a. Hypertension can be controlled in various ways with advice from your own doctor since everyone is different when it comes to their hypertension needs! I would check with your doctor first, and follow his or her advice as to if they want you to follow a diet, lose weight, take medication,etc...

High Blood Pressure can be controlled by doing the following things:

If your doctor prescribes high blood pressure medication for you, make sure that you take your medication EXACTLY AS PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR!! The only reason I say that is because some people stop taking their medication once they start feeling better, and you should contact your doctor's office and meet with your doctor before going off of any high blood pressure medication! If you are taking any high blood pressure medication and you have severe side effects,or if you start to feel really ill, than be sure to contact your doctor's office IMMEDIATELY,so they can advise you on what course of action that they want you to take next!

Diet is CRUCIAL when it comes to controlling high blood pressure and one of the culprits in food is salt! Salt is hidden in MANY FOODS that people aren't even aware of,so please READ FOOD LABELS VERY CAREFULLY!! There is a diet called the DASH Diet, but ALWAYS TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING ANY DIET!! The DASH Diet is for people with hypertension and it helps to either limit,or eliminate alot of salty foods in your diet, therefore providing you with different and more healty food options!

Alot of foods such as bologna, bacon, dill pickles, canned soups, frozen dinners, french fries, pizza, etc are just loaded with alot of salt!

If you are overweight,it is a good idea to talk with your doctor about starting a healthy diet plan,as well as exercise plan, and an overall lifestyle change, since being overweight puts alot of strain on your heart, and can cause serious health complications!

Last but not least,BE HONEST with your doctor and tell him or her ALL OF THE MEDICATIONS that you are currently taking because even over the counter medications,or certain vitamins or vitamin supplements can affect the way that your body absorbs your high blood pressure medication! Also, make sure to talk with your doctor or pharmacist about consuming grapefruit juice when you are on high blood pressure medicine, because again it could affect your health!! I hope this has been helpful and good luck to you!! ;-)

  • How pranayam(breathing exerises) controls the blood pressure?

Prana is the Life force and yama is to control it...Prana is not the same as Breath(usually people think both are the same).

When the Prana is controlled, the heart rate drops, one feels very relaxed and calm and the blood circulation -or flow-is smoother.

Since all these are directly connected with the Blood Pressure, there is a healthy drop in the BP..

Pl. practise this everyday for abt 10 min...How pranayam(breathing exerises) controls the blood pressure?
    Dear Friend,

Pranayam as you know is is an excercise done by controling our breath. Control over a human body as you know is all depending on the mind. The mind as you know is like a monkey jumping from place to place for which if you do not have any control can cause excitement which in turn causes for higher heart beat.

While doing pranayam we are try to get control over the mind in the sense that we are trying to breath in a systemtic way making our mind body and sprit to singernoise and have a steady thought that enable us to calm down our self and to settle ourself into within us where you feel a contenment resulting in a well balanced heart beat. This means the pressure in you blood streams is alos on a normal level. Over and above this while doing this excercise you are inhailing fresh air and letting it flow through the blood streams enabling the bood to be purified.

The consatant flow of the purified blood lets you have a purified thought in turn make your mind to calm down resulting in keeping you blood pressure normal. How pranayam(breathing exerises) controls the blood pressure?

I can go on %26amp; on on this.

You can choose to perceive their controlling influence as their specific methodology for attempting to teach you how to successfully function in the world.

My bathtub has a pressure valve that controls the amt of water released. Bill is still high.?

I was told that the water pressure is actually low and could be changed to the norm which is much higher. I have seen it at that high level before and it seems wasteful. The water gushes out. Question: Will the normal/higher water pressure make me use less hot water because it seems that i am spending more time in the hot shower because of the lower water pressure. BTW, I have one of those efficient shower heads. The device to calibrate the water pressure coming from the hot water tank is found in the cold/hot water handle on the tub. You should spend the same amount of time in the shower under the lower pressure as you did under the higher pressure. That will reduce your water consumption and your energy bills. Spending a longer time in the shower won't make you any cleaner, though I have to admit that there's nothing quite as nice as a long hot shower; but in these times we do have to be more careful about our use of resources.

make sure your weight is correct and work out. plus watch your diet. this works How to control high blood pressure?
watch what you eat and drink plenty of water.
You have got hypertension stage 1. Optimal blood pressure is less than 120 (systolic) and less than 80 (diastolic). You should check urine for microalbuminura and retina of the eye. This is to check whether other organs are invoved.

Boil one potato with skin and eat it. Do this on a daily basis.
reduce the consumption of salt and fried items and drink plenty of water and regular work out

its all set and done that way

    all the best
Cut back on your salt intake. Try to concentrate on whole, natural foods instead of prefab or boxed foods.

You can lower your pressure by practicing different breathing techniques.

Whenever possible, sit back and close your eyes. Breath deeply. Time yourself. 5 Seconds on inhale. 5 Seconds on exhale. 5 Seconds inhale...

Do this for at least 2 minutes at a time, several times a day.

Sounds odd, but it does work. There's even a machine you can buy online, that plays music and monitors your breathing to help to you 'train' yourself to breath in a more healthy way. It's called ';Resp-e-Rate'; and you can read about it here: http://www.resperate.com/us/welcome/inde鈥?/a>

Studies have shown that at a certain point in our development, we change our breathing patterns. If you look at how children breath, they inhale deeply, down into their tummies. As adults, we don't do that. Stress and age changes that.

    Good Luck!
1/ Do simple free hand exercises.

    2/ Join laughter club

3/ Avoid excess salt, oil and spices

    4/ Avoid red meat

5/ Go for walks. (Twice daily if you can)

    6/ Try pranayams.

7/ Try to be stress free.

8/ Avoid over excitement and dishearten.

9/ Eat lots of fruits, green and fresh vegetables.

10/ Drink at least 3 to 4 liters of water everyday.
Honestly there is no real proven way to control high blood pressure other than medication. You can try to eliminate stress and breathe deeply and relax but that is just a temporary fix at best. High blood pressure is nothing to play around with. Over a long period of time it can cause major problems such as artery, kidney and heart damage and even death. It is known as the silent killer because there are really no visible or noticeable signs other than your readings which is a powerful signal to get medication and take it daily.
Passing gas does that for you. I read an article.
hey dont wait for these ansers. better to cumsult ur doctor or any physician. BP ...as per age, weight, changes in body internally so many reasons will b ther. cant say

Your doctor has just not yet come across the appropriate drug for you. There are probably hundreds of medications that can be prescribed and they don't always work on every one. You might ask your doctor about a diuretic. I take a beta blocker and diuretic and recently was put on an ace inhibitor as well and that did the trick.
ask your doctor about '; COREG '; I have been on it for 3 years and my bp is now perfect everytime. I started out on the highest dose possible ( 50 mg per day ) and now I am down to 12.5 mg a day, so the stuff does work but it is very expensive without insurance.

All Harley Davidson V Twins have a design flaw with small engine crankcases, can't control high pressures.?

Harley Davidson V Twins with small crankcases present some real challenges when it comes to controlling crankcase pressures. As the pistons rise and fall in their cylinders, the volume of the crankcase changes the same amount as the displacement of the engine.

Without some type of venting system the seals and the gaskets would fail immediately.

Bottom Line: its normal for all HD Engines to leak oil from the breather tube that attaches to the air box., then the oil leaks out and gets all over the engine and on your pants legs, its a mess!

Why don't HD just make a bigger crankcase and forget about the stupid oil tank? All Harley Davidson V Twins have a design flaw with small engine crankcases, can't control high pressures.?
I agree. As much as I like HD it's still a puzzle as to WHY so many people want to shell out so much cash for a 50 year old engine design that leaks, vibrates, too heavy, too slow, too thirsty. A Ducatti is the polar opposite -- no leaks, smooth as butter, trim %26amp; sleek, fast as hell and gets decent fuel mileage. I don't blame HD for building the bikes that they do -- they're simply filling supply %26amp; demand. Heck, they even tried to go high tech with the V-Rod but the public stayed away in droves. As long as there are middle age biker wannabes that like to dress up in leather chaps and salad bowl helmets there will always be a Harley Davidson. All Harley Davidson V Twins have a design flaw with small engine crankcases, can't control high pressures.?
Bart, you obviously do not know what you are talking about. HD does not have a design flaw that causes an automatic oil leak.

All internal combustion engines have venting for internal pressures.
    Bottom line:

When oil leaks from the breather there is an internal problem, not a design flaw. Air and oil are supposed to be separated so that air comes out the breather and oil goes to the tank.

    Breather = vent.
because you need oil in an IC engine
my don't leak any oil and it has over 80,000 miles on it

Parasympathetic especially coming from the 10th cranial nerve (vagus). if the heart wasnt innervated by that nerve the heart would speed up to 100bpm. hormones include ADH released by the pituitary which tells the kidneys to conserve water, raising the blood volume and making the heart pump harder. Epinephrine can also have dilating or constricting effects depending on what kind of receptor it binds one. Angiotensin II is also another hormone that can have an impact on bp as it is a potent vasoconstrictor. however this is released after renin is released by the kidneys which happens after it gets sympathetic input. Angiotensin II can also simulate the release of aldosterone from the adrenal cortex, which results in salt retention and further water retention as well.

Is it okay to take multiple non-prescription products to control high blood pressure?

I currently take Garlic, L-Arginine, and Triple Strength Fish Oil Daily, I also take a multivitamin, I use the products every morning I feel good but i wonder if its okay to take all these at the same time.

I take 1- 1000mg garlic pill, 1-900mg Fish Oil Pill, and 1-1000mg dose of L-arginine in the morning before i workout.

I dont feel any problems in my body after taking these products it just seems like a lot of pills to be taking at one time is this bad?Is it okay to take multiple non-prescription products to control high blood pressure?
You should be getting all vitamins and minerals from your diet. It's alright to supplement, but I think the industry has you duped into thinking you need them. I took lots of vites and they didn't do anything beneficial that proper diet and exercise couldn't.Is it okay to take multiple non-prescription products to control high blood pressure?
If you have high BP you need to either lose weight and fix your diet (eg remove as much salt, alcohol and caffeine as possible) and reduce your stress and stop smoking (if you do), or go see your doctor and be prescribed actual BP medications. The products (I refer to them spefically as products and not medicine) will not have any effect on your BP and they're a waste of precious time and money that should be spent properly addressing the problem at hand.

Give me some figures, age, height, weight, etc, what medications you're on, and some BP readings WITH SIMULTANEOUS PULSE RATES. (BP's on their own are quite meaningless)..

Please EDIT your question and ADD DETAILS.Controlling blood pressure?
First of all realize that there are huge numbers of medications on the market for lowering blood pressure. The ACE and ARB meds I have taken in the past did nothing to lower my blood pressure.

Talk to the doctors about something different than what is supposedly newest medication or best bet medication.

My blood pressure finally went to where the doctors wanted it after taking a very low dose of Calcium Channel Blocker type med.

    Go talk to the doctor!!
Healthy diet, adequate daily water intake and exercising daily (a walking program is easiest) and weight loss. Those are the home remedies I'm sure your doctor has also recommended. Also, stop smoking and following a low-salt diet.

I didn't get the meaning of static charged. i am thinking that it has enough strength to sustain that force.

Even up to before releasing water from fire hydrant, under operator control only.

That door it self can resist the full flow of water, not only direction.

Compare to some pneumatic, Hydraulic applications that fire hydrant pressure is less. But all applications are going under predetermined directions only.

The kidneys play a role in controlling blood pressure, what is it?

My pulse rate and blood pressure is controlled by medication but ...?

my pulse gets up to 150 in a matter of minutes when i exercise im 24 male and 5'8 and 220 lbs my pulse resting is 65 why does my pulse go so high so quick is this bad??My pulse rate and blood pressure is controlled by medication but ...?
That is fine. You want to stay at 70-80% of your maximum heart rate for 20 minutes or longer (with burst of higher heart rates up to your MHR) to gain cardiovascular health. You are under 80%

MHR=220-ageMy pulse rate and blood pressure is controlled by medication but ...?
How long have you been exercising? Meaning, are you just beginning an exercise program and hadn't exercised in years or are you a seasoned vet? What kind of exercises are you doing that gets your heart rate up so fast?

However, you should try to get you heart rate up, but not quite that high. To calculate your heart rate, you take 220 (constant) minus your age. That equals 196. That is your maximum heart rate (you don't want to go near that). 80% of that 196 is 156. That number is the max you want to stay around for cardiovascular fitness. Of that same 196, you take 60%, and you get 117. Stay around that number for fat burning.

Don't think that you have to get you heart rate really high to see improvement in your body and fitness level. Studies have shown that keeping you heart rate relatively low for a sustained period of time is just as effective if not more effective than high levels in shorter periods of time.

    Hope I helped.
it goes up because you are over weight and out of shape. You need to slow down your routine, your heart rate should be sustained around 140 during exercise.

CThe Limbo system which controls automatic functions such as blood pressure is found in which part of the brain?
    C. the Hypothalamus - it is near the base of the brain
    Yes, it is the hypothalamus.

It's the ';limbic system';, not the ';limbo system';.
    Closest here is C.

But it is a very poor question.

The Limbic system is not found IN the hypothalamus; the hypothalamus comprises one part OF the limbic system. It would be more appropriately worded as:

Which part of the limbic system controls ... blood pressure?

Also, many automatic functions (including much blood pressure regulation) are managed from the medulla oblongata.

I have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication. Can i take phentermine for weight lose?

If Doctor supervised? I have to lose 100+ poundsI have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication. Can i take phentermine for weight lose?
I doubt the doctor would approve. Phentermine should not be taken if you have high blood pressure, it will increase your risk of stroke and heart attack. Look at the GI Diet by Rick Gallop. Its a good healthy diet and is sustainable. I have lost a lot of weight with it in the last 7 months;I have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication. Can i take phentermine for weight lose?
Don't do it. Go natural! Traditional, without drugs. Good luck!
    yes
The medication can potentially elevate your blood pressure. I'm glad you mentioned doctor supervision. Your physician could counsel you regarding medications or other methods that could assist you in reaching your goal.

I, like you, also take medication for blood pressure control and could lose some pounds. I've found that walking, eating more vegetables and fruits, less ';sweets'; and drinking lots of water helps me in shedding the pounds and inches.

    Good Luck!
Ask your dr., girl. There are major dangers from weight loss drugs.
Talk to your doctor and your pharmicist!!!!
Taking medication when you don't absolutely need it is always a bad idea, as they all have side effects. Eating well and burning more calories than you ingest through healthy and moderate exercise is always better than taking a pill.
That's up to your doctor. At your weight you should be able to get a prescription. But you'll need to have your BP monitored while you're on it. You might have to get a blood test first too.

It does work very well and I've been happy with my results.
I wouldn't mess with it...a lot of these things speed up your heart rate as far as I know...you shouldn't be messing with your heart. Exercise...every day...small meals...see a nutritionist and get a trainer at the gym.
Ask your doctor but the warning label says no!
Definetly talk to your doctor, blood pressure is the silent killer, and you can't mix too many meds with it. If under supervision I think u would be fine because they can keep a constant check on you. I would not mix a diet pill with it, those things cause problems without having high blood pressure.
Now that's a great question for YA! I'm so glad YA is here to answer my medical questions; it's such a bother to call my doctor or pharmacist and ask these questions.
I would talk to your doctor before taking it. I believe that you can - but I am not a doctor.

If I take Levitra, will it have problems if I have high blood pressure which is controlled by Altace?

As long as you have a doctor prescribing Levitra you should be fine. As you know, Levitra can cause your blood vessels to enlarge and your blood pressure can fall. This is a big problem for people on nitrogycerin pills. I would start on the lowest dose of Levitra and see how it goes. You should be fine.

  • I went for my birth control today and they wouldn't give it to me due to my blood pressure being 130 over 100

I guess this sounds dumb but do I need to see a doctor right away ? I have to do this huge eval. before they will let me make an appointment but I dont want to hold it off any longer if its risky??Does anyone know because I know nothing about blood pressure and they told me a my gyno to make a regular doctors appointment right away but they said it could be a week before I can even get the eval.I went for my birth control today and they wouldn't give it to me due to my blood pressure being 130 over 100
Blood pressure of 130/100 is quite high (the 130 is high-normal for heart pumping, but the 100 is *very* high for a relaxed heart)... it's not a good thing to combine with hormonal contraceptives and your doctor would be right to avoid prescribing them.

You need to have your circulatory issues evaluated and treated first. That's really all there is to it.I went for my birth control today and they wouldn't give it to me due to my blood pressure being 130 over 100
Keep a check on your BP. You may have developed high blood pressure and this does not mix with birth control pills. There are alternated methods to use...
Birth control pills can cause stroke and blood clots. That is why they would not prescribe them to you with your blood pressure being that high. 130/100 is higher than normal (mine is 120/80 and they call me borderline, but I am on the Pill).

Did they take your pressure more than once? Could it have been because you were nervous? Go see your regular doctor. If your pressure is normal there then it may be that you were just nervous. There was a study not long ago that showed that the longer someone had to wait to see a doctor or the more concerned they were about their health, made their blood pressure go up and gave an inaccurate reading.

That is why at my OB/GYN's office and my regular doctor's office they both take my pressure more than once if I have a high reading. Sometimes, they're using the wrong cuff too. If you are overweight they need to use the larger cuff because the regular cuff will cut into your arm and make it hurt which will make your pressure spike (pain causes high blood pressure too).

If you do suffer from high BP, then it's time to evaluate what dietary things you need to do and/or medications (that is SOLELY your doctor's decision). There are other forms of birth control that are non-hormonal that you can use - such as the diaphram or cervical cap.

    Good luck, honey!

Im 21..my blood pressure was high last week(147/90). Should I stop taking my birth control pills?

I'm 5'2';, 100 lbs. I have a lot of stress in my life right now and I have anxiety disorder... Probably the reason for the high bp. I don't want to make it worse with birth ctrl but I have one baby and I don't want to get pregnant again right now. I am married by the way.Im 21..my blood pressure was high last week(147/90). Should I stop taking my birth control pills?
Exercise and low-sodium diet will help lower the BP. Check your diet because a lot of young people eat high sodium foods. Fast food is extremely high, as well as anything processed or packaged/canned. Soy Sauce is extremely high in sodium. My doc told that 2000 mg/day for sodium was a good amount. No more than that.Im 21..my blood pressure was high last week(147/90). Should I stop taking my birth control pills?
That is probably the reason for it to raise like that. I would just keep an eye on it and see. If it doesn't go down, I would consult with the doctor that prescribed the bc pills.
Okay, please call your doctor's office and ask to speak with his/her nurse; then tell the nurse exactly what you said about the blood pressure, the stress/anxiety and your question about the birth control pills. The nurse will consult your doctor and let you know, or ask him/her to call you. The rest of us will only be guessing at the right answer to tell you, but you should be confident in your doctor's reply, and by the way, this type of question is usually free.

It would be good to check your blood pressure daily for awhile, and keep a record of the results, so that the next time you see or speak with your physician, you can relay this info.

    Best wishes,

cryllie, who is wondering if being married explains the stress...

hugs and a grin, cryllie, who is also married, by the way
the best advice i could give you is to talk about your health with your doctor not those of us on yahoo answers.....
Can you just use condoms with spermicide for now? Those won't affect your bp. I would talk to your gyn asap- did you check your bp at the doctor, or at a drug store? (Doctor should have asked about meds, etc and discussed it with you.) Either way, call and they can have you come in or advise you on how to proceed. Just know, you ARE at risk by continuing to take them!
I do not think it is the BC, but you should consult a doctor!

TRY exercise...it relieves a lot of stress...I personally run three mil about 3-4 times a week to releive stress...
i would ask a docter or a professonal that question just to be safe.
Another baby sure won't help with the BP! LOL

Maybe you should start bp meds? See what your doctor suggests.
best thing to do is call and ask your gyno. she should know the correct answer.
What does your doctor say?? See a doctor

Should I worry about chest pain/pressure and tingling in the arm? 21/F and taking Solia birth control.?

The catch is that I have anxiety and in the past have brought symptoms on from worrying. But I also know that Solia can cause blood clots and possible heart attacks. It happened for the first time two days ago and lasted about 8-9 hours. I eventually took aspirin and also got drunk and the pain went away, though I'm not sure from what. Today I felt alittle pressure again but I think it was more of a confirmation bias than anything else. Should I wait and see if it happens again and more severely or should I call a doc right away? Thanks for the advice!Should I worry about chest pain/pressure and tingling in the arm? 21/F and taking Solia birth control.?
If it were me, I'd see a doctor.Should I worry about chest pain/pressure and tingling in the arm? 21/F and taking Solia birth control.?
It is better to be checked out 100 times and not have it be a heart attack than not go once and it is a heart attack.

Alcohol is not the recommended cure for heart attacks. See your doctor regarding the pain with conjunction with the bc.

Is there any birth control pill that is less likely to cause an increase in blood pressure?

After that my blood pressure has been fine except when I go to the doctors office as I am often anxious, but when i check it at home and at the pharmacy it is fine.     You better get another doctor, that Blood pressure would make me horizontal. You need to be on meds. Everyday you have a pressure like that you're tempting stroke and death. ';get another doctor';
Take life easy. Reduce intake of salt. Take plenty of water.

Start taking medicine only on medical advice, cauz once on it, you have to continue it for life. Do deep-breething.
This is indeed a medical so no one other than your doctor knows you well enough to answer . The literature would indicate that exercise, weight loss, limitation on sodium , limtation of stress are all factors that could contribute to blood pressure reduction.

You should come up with ideas on all of these issues, review them directly with your doctor and set a follow-up date with him to see if you are making progress.

Other than the normal risks of exercise, all of these can only help.
Not.Your blood pressure is too high.Ways to decrease your BP walking daily, lose weight, eat %26lt;2000 mg of sodium per day, control stress(take a tranquilizer if you have to) You should purchase a wrist BP device at the pharmacy and record your blood pressure daily and make a log.Take the log to your doctor and let him review your daily BPs.They are very pleased with these logs.He may not be treating you because he thinks you have ';white coat syndrome'; meaning a doc visit causes you stress, hence elevating your blood pressure. He should still have requested you to keep a daily log, maybe he just doesn't care.Maybe you need a new doc.
If your Dr. says it's 150/100 and won't give you any meds. He/she is nutz. It's NOT OK.

First of all, get another Dr.

You should be at least taking 40 mg's of Accupril or 40 mg's of Norvasc to lower and regulate it.
It is not OK. Before resorting to medication please try following:

    (a) Reduce your weight

    (b) Reduce your salt intake considerably

    (c) stop worrying.

    (b) Go for regular walk of at least 2 KMs daily

If nothing work you have no choice but to see a doctor and act as per his advice
Try Hawthorn in capsules also trymoducale if you have high cholesterol . You may want to try garlic as well and deffinatly get another medical oppinion. Even though I am a naturopathic practioner I feel that sometimes modern and holistic work together. By the way you can find all these suplements at a health food store!
Your blood pressure is high. Your doctor should be going over ways to reduce it. You should cut down on sodium in your diet and increase potassium. Some quick tips- my dad has high blood pressure and while he is controlling it with medication, I try to get him to eat certain things that are high in potassium and to stay away from salty snacks like salted nuts, chips, deli meats, and canned soups. He eats a banana every day (at least one) which are very high in potassium. Also, potatoes are high in potassium (no salt allowed). Don't sprinkle salt on your foods.

Do a Google search for the DASH diet. You should make changes in your lifestyle or try medication, as your blood pressure is relatively high- serious risk factor for stroke, heart disease.
I would consider you to get a different Medical Doctor. Any thing not normal blood pressure, 120/80 is very high in your case. You should try walking and if that does not work you should get blood pressure medication, before it's too late. That could cause Heart and Kidney failure.
If my bood pressure was that high, I would insist on being put on medication.

Just diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 54, have diabetes, high blood pressure (both controlled by meds),?

asthma, arthritis and recently underwent c-spine fusion surgery. I have always believed that fibromyalgia was not really a disease, but in the last several months, have been completely disabled. I am unable to walk, drive and even cry when washing my hair. The rheumatologist I saw told me fibromyalgia is real, even though it cannot be verified by lab tests. I am going to start taking neurontin, along with my other meds. Does neurontin help and also, if the pain is so disabling that I am unable to do even simple things, what kind of prognosis do I have for things to get better?Just diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 54, have diabetes, high blood pressure (both controlled by meds),?
Fibromalgia is a diagnosis given to a person who suffers from symptoms that cannot be explained or confirmed with lab tests. It is diagnosed only after all other inflammatory diseases have been ruled out and based on trigger point pain. I worked for a rheumatologist for awhile and quit because it became a depressing work environment that seemed like pain management. I don't believe that fibromyalgia exists, either. I think that there will be a link someday that connects it to depression from chronic pain. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause debilitating pain and all doctors acknowlege that this can cause depression (it's hard to be happy when you are in constant pain) which further aggravates the physical symptoms. Multiple studies have been done on the physical symptoms manifested from depression, such as muscle and joint pain, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, etc. The rheumatologist I worked for prescribed Cymbalta to any patient who had a generalized diagnosis of ';fibromyalgia'; and we saw marked improvements, both physically and mentally as Cymbalta helps with both. You asked about Neurontin. It helps with nerve pain, which you may have from diabetes. It is widely used in treating diabetic neuropathy. Do you use any biologicals to treat your RA ? Like Humira or Enbrel, methotrexate ? If you have tried these without results, ask about beginning Remicaid infusions. Remicaid can actually stop RA from progressing and give you so a better quality of life. Like I said, it is very hard to be a happy , carefree person when you have limited mobility, constant pain. One problem begets another, you lose your independance, the simplest tasks become difficult. Ibelieve that fibromyalgia is related to the depression caused by the inflammatory condition you have. The treatment for fibromyalgia is usually stress reduction, exercise, a regular sleep pattern, all things pretty hard to do with chronic pain and associated depression. What area do you live in ? Maybe I can help you find a doctor in your area. You have so many options out there. I would speak to your rheumatologist about Cymbalta and Remicaid infusions. If he can't help you, seek the advice of another rheumatologist.Just diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 54, have diabetes, high blood pressure (both controlled by meds),?
    Hi Donna

I would do either of the following for your pain: Reiki, Healing Touch, and Therapeutic Touch, all of which can significantly improve fibromyalgia pain symptoms, and which can be taught to patients as a form of self-care, as well as being provided by professional energy healers. I've also been recently introduced to a new healing frequency on the earth and you can read about it on thereconnection.com. Could assist you as well.

    Causes of Fibromyalgia

There is not one specific cause for primary fibromyalgia. Certain common features among fibromyalgia patients provide a better idea as to the primary factors that are involved in its onset, however. These include dental amalgam fillings, hormone imbalances, infection, neurotransmitter imbalances, sleep problems, problems with the thalamus gland, and physical trauma. Other factors that can play a role include chemical and food allergies and sensitivities, chronic stress, and dysfunctions in system.muscle metabolism.

Conventional physicians treat fibromyalgia primarily through the use of painkiller medications. Such an approach fails to address the multiple causes of fibromyalgia, and also carries with it the risk of serious side effects. In addition, this symptom care approach is typical of conventional medicine`s failure to properly understand chronic health conditions such as fibromyalgia, which explains why it so often fails to successfully treat such conditions. Practitioners of alternative medicine, on the other hand, focus their treatment approaches on the multiple factors involved in fibromyalgia in order to eliminate them, while simultaneously stimulating the body`s ability to repair itself. What follows is an overview of some of the most common therapies they employ in order to achieve those goals

    Quick Action Plan for Fibromyalgia

    1. A healthy, whole foods diet is an important part of any fibromyaglia treatment program. Emphasize organic foods, especially fresh, organic vegetables, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day. For even more benefits, consider adopting a vegetarian diet, which has been shown to significantly reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.

    2. Essential nutrients to help treat fibromyalgia include vitamin C, vitamin E, niacinimide (vitamin B3), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA-an essential fatty acid), magnesium, selenium, zinc, and the lipotrophic factors inositol, methionine, and phosphatidyl choline. The nutritional supplements cetyl myristoleate and SAMe are also highly beneficial, as it the Meyers Cocktail, which must be administered by a trained health care practitioner.

    3. Herbal remedies for fibromyalgia include cayenne and chamomile. An herbal combination of tinctures of black cohosh, celery, dandelion, devil`s claw, Echinacea, and licorice in equal parts, can also be helpful.

    4. Homeopathic remedies for fibromyalgia include Arnica, Bryonia, and Rhus. Tox.

    5. Various bodywork therapies, such as Massage, Acupressure, Bowen Therapy, Feldenkrais, myotherapy, Rolfing, Shiatsu, Therapeutic Touch, and Trigger Point Therapy, can provide significant relief of fibromyalgia pain and speed healing.

    6. Mind/body medicine therapies such as biofeedback, guided imagery and visualization, hypnotherapy, and meditation, can help relieve chronic stress, thereby soothing muscle tension and reducing pain

    7. Be sure to do a colon and liver cleanse to clean out the toxins in the colon and the blood. Most important step is cleansing and detoxifying the body. This will help with your other issues as well.

    Best of health to you

Donna, I wish you accepted e-mail.

If you did, I would suggest you speak with a freind of mine who has the same combo.

I cope with Fibro and a whole long laundry list of other things.. many the same as yours

but not also the diabetes and high blood pressure

Most days I have difficulty walking. On the days that my feet will co-operate with walking, I fall frequently. I haven't been able to drive since '02........... these are things that you must learn to cope with and adapt around. I am sorry, I know it hurts. Yes, the pain can be immensely disabling.

    If you will e-mail me @ bama.brat@yahoo.com

    and you might consider joining

    http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Cop鈥?/a>

This is a goup that I started. A lady in the group named Terry is who I have in mind for you to chat with.

There are other on-line support groups that you might also consider.

Treatments for Fibro vary from person-to-person. What doesn't work for others might work for you and vice-versa.

So far, none of the meds seem very effective for most of the folks with Fibro. If you join a couple of groups, then you have a chance to compare notes %26amp; consider what might be helpful to you.

Also, a movie that should offer you some inspiration... it is about WheelChair Rugby... if Quadraplegics can find a way to enjoy life... then so can folks with Fibro.... Wheelchair Rugby is part of Paralympics (note this is much more rigorous than Special Olympics!!!) the original name for WheelChair Rugby is MurderBall... that is the name of the movie. If you have netflix, you can order the movie to watch it.. it is an AMAZING story of the lives of the men in that sport.

    Hope these thoughts help
try adding vitamin B6, Magnesium and manganese to your diet, first check with your doctor and make sure they will not interfere with your current meds.
http://www.fibromyalgiasource.com has lots of information about Fibromyalgia and may be able to provide you with some assistance.
FMS can be an ugly thing depending on the person. I would suggest that you find a support group on line so that you can network with others that have it. It can be a tricky thing to treat as what works well for some may not work for others. The neurontin helps spme but not others. Again, it depends on how you react to it. There are a pluthra of womens groups on the net. I could direct you to a few if you would like. Send me an e-mail. I own Men Survivng FMS but it's for men only just because they need to be able to talk about things openly that they may not if we had ladies in the group. Look up Men Surviving FMS and you will also find some info and links therein. God Bless.
Yes this is a real autoimmune disease. Neurontin may be of some help. There are also some studies and experimental meds in the works. Your rheumatoligst can answer questions about them. You might want to do a google search to get more details. While you may have good days and bad days there is no known cure for this.
Actually, slices of the muscle contain tiny crystals, then with movement cause rubbing if causes pain. Some feel that dextromethorhan can relieve the symptoms. Neurontin can cause quite a bit of weight gain, however, it does help with sharp shooting pain
Donna, So sorry. Sounds like you're really going through a lot right now. I'll share with you my illness in 1993. I had Hepatitis C %26amp; others around me were getting liver transplants or dying. I went on the drug interferon (self injected shots 3 times a week). The side effects were in some cases much harder to deal with than the disease %26amp; it only had a 25% success rate after a year %26amp; half of those relapsed in 6 months.

I too was searching for answers %26amp; I got in contact w/ a naturpathic doctor %26amp; became involved in Breath exercises, certain herbs, %26amp; change of diet, to go along w/ my main stream medical therapy. I did a 21 day cleanse to rid all the toxins out of my system. It worked great %26amp;I had a much better outlook dealing with the disease %26amp; side affects of the therapy. Good Luck %26amp; God Bless
Fibromyalgia is real as you have now learned. I'm sorry you found out this way but dont give up, you can have a better life. Many people who end up with fibromyalgia do so after spinal or head injuries. It is now considered to be a neurological condition.

I found the following article very helpful in understanding just exactly what fibromylagia is and the suggestions for treatment are also some of the things that we fibro patients have found to be helpful in our treatment:

A Novel Holistic Explanation for the Fibromyalgia

    Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction

    By Manuel Mart铆nez-Lav铆n, M.D.

    Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia Mexico

    (National Cardiology Institute of Mexico)

This article discusses scientific evidence supporting the notion that all fibromyalgia (FM) features can be explained on the basis of autonomic (sympathetic) nervous system dysfunction. On this basis, a holistic approach for FM treatment is proposed.

My first argument is that FM is a multi-system illness. This means that FM symptoms are not limited to the muscles as the name fibromyalgia may suggest. It is obvious that this illness also produces dramatic manifestations in different organs and systems of the body. The most frequent associated complaints are: fatigue, sleep disorders, morning stiffness, headache, a numbness and tingling feeling in the extremities, restless legs, anxiety, dryness in the mouth, cold-clammy hands, irritable bowel, mental fogginess, and cystitis. So, any valid theory attempting to explain FM mechanisms should first give a coherent explanation for the presence of these disparate symptoms in the same patients. When we started our FM research at the National Cardiology Institute of Mexico, our working hypothesis was that all of the above-mentioned features could be explained on the basis of autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

What Is the Autonomic Nervous System?

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the portion of the nervous system that controls the function of the different organs and systems of the body. For instance, it regulates body temperature, blood pressure, heartbeat rate, and bowel and bladder tone, among many other variables. It is ';autonomic'; because our mind does not govern its performance; rather, it works below the level of consciousness. One striking characteristic of this system is the rapidity and intensity of the onset of its action and its dissipation. Centers located in the central nervous system (brain stem, hypothalamus, and thalamus) and in the spinal cord activate the ANS. These centers also receive input from the limbic system and other higher brain areas. This means that the ANS is the interface between mind and body functions. These connections enable the ANS to be the main component of the stress response system in charge of fight-or-flight reactions.

The ANS works closely with the endocrine system (the hormonal system), particularly the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Another endocrine axis closely related to the ANS involves growth hormone secretion.

The peripheral autonomic system is divided into two branches; sympathetic and para- sympathetic. These two branches have antagonistic effects on most bodily functions, and their proper balance preserves equilibrium. Thus, the ANS represents the ying-yang concept of ancient eastern cultures. Sympathetic activation prepares the whole body for fight or flight in response to stress or emergencies; in contrast, parasympathetic tone favors digestive functions and sleep. The sympathetic autonomic branch extends from the brain stem to the spinal cord and features rich sympathetic nerve tissue in the neck and pelvic areas (important facts for FM research). From the spinal cord, the sympathetic nervous system goes to our internal organs and to the extremities. At the skin level, sympathetic activity induces cold clammy hands, mottled skin, and piloerection (goose flesh).

The action of the two branches of the ANS is mediated by neurotransmitters. Adrenaline (also known as norepinephrine) is the predominant sympathetic neurotransmitter whereas acethylcoline acts in the parasympathetic periphery.

Until recently, the action of this extremely dynamic ANS has been difficult to assess in clinical practice. Changes in breathing pattern, mental stress, or even posture alter immediately and completely the sympathetic/parasympathetic balance. Nevertheless, with the introduction of a new powerful cybernetic technique named heart rate variability analysis, the outlook has changed dramatically.

What is Heart Rate Variability Analysis?

This technique is based on the fact that the heart rate is not uniform but varies continuously from beat to beat by a few milliseconds. The periodic components of this endless heart rate variation are dictated by the antagonistic impulses that the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches have on the heart. Cybernetic recording of this constant variability is able to estimate both sympathetic and parasympathetic activity. The elegance of this method resides in the fact that all measurements are derived from electrocardiograms, so patients are subjected to no discomfort whatsoever.

Heart rate variability analysis is not a test that a patient can readily obtain from practicing physicians. So far, this test is largely confined to research centers.

    Our Research on Fibromyalgia

We have used heart rate variability analysis to estimate ANS function in patients with FM. We have found that such patients have changes consistent with relentless hyperactivity of their sympathetic nervous system which continues 24 hours a day. Very interestingly, in a different study, we subjected FM patients to a simple stress test which involved having them stand up. Their overworked sympathetic nervous system became unable to further respond meaning that the system was already exhausted.

It is known that as we stand up, blood tends to pool in the lower parts of the body. In normal circumstances, there is an immediate sympathetic surge that compensates for this blood shift and maintains normal blood circulation to the head. People with FM clearly have an abnormal response, and their sympathetic nervous system fails to respond properly. It is pertinent to mention that researchers from different parts of the world have confirmed these abnormal heart rate variability findings in patients with FM.

Based on this research, we proposed that dysautonomia (the medical term for ANS dysfunction) is frequent in patients with FM. Such dysautonomia can be characterized as a sympathetic nervous system that is persistently hyperactive but hypo-reactive to stress. Furthermore, we propose that such dysautonomia explains all FM features. Our ANS findings fully agree with previous ground-breaking research on sleep disorders and hormonal abnormalities in FM.

    Dysautonomia Explains All FM Features

Sympathetic hypo-reactivity provides a coherent explanation for the constant fatigue and other symptoms associated with low blood pressure, such as dizziness, fogginess, and faintness. This phenomenon can be compared to what would happen to a constantly forced engine that becomes unable to speed up in response to further stimulation.

Relentless sympathetic hyperactivity also explains the sleep disturbances associated with FM. It is known that parasympathetic tone predominates during deep sleep stages and that seconds before awakening episodes there is a sympathetic surge. Our concurrent studies of polysomnography and heart rate variability analyses have shown that FM people have relentless nocturnal sympathetic hyperactivity associated with constant arousal and awakening episodes.

Sympathetic hyperactivity may also explain the cold, clammy hands (pseudo Raynaud's phenomenon) and the constant dryness in the mouth often seen in persons with FM. Investigators who have directly studied irritable bowel syndrome and interstitial cystitis have also reported alterations which are consistent with sympathetic hyperactivity.

The relationship between FM and anxiety and/or depression also deserves special mention. It is clear that FM patients frequently have these two conditions. It hardly could be any other way in persons suffering from chronic intense pain. Unfortunately, the psychological component associated with multisystem FM features has led some physicians to diagnose these patients with pejorative labels such as hypochondriasis or hysteria. In recent years, new labels have been applied, such as ';health seeking behavior'; or ';somatization';. In my opinion, these labels are totally misplaced and do not help by any means in understanding the causes that lead to FM. The fact that there is a psychological component to FM does not diminish the validity of the diagnosis nor make patients guilty for their own suffering. The key issue in FM research is not whether there is a psychological component; the key issue is why these persons have so much pain. (It is the pain, stupid !!!). There is ample evidence to sustain the fact that FM pain is real as attested by different studies demonstrating very high levels of the powerful pain-transmitting substance P in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients. According to our model, anxiety could be either the cause or the effect of sympathetic hyperactivity. It should be noted that any normal person injected with adrenaline becomes jittery and anxious.

However, we have to address the key FM issue: how to explain its defining features (i.e., widespread pain and tenderness at palpation on specific anatomical points). We propose that these key features can be explained by the mechanism known in medicine as sympathetically maintained pain. This type of pain is characterized by its frequent onset after trauma, by its independence of any tissue damage, and by the presence of allodynia (the medical term for pain elicitation with light touch) and paresthesias (the medical term for burning, tingling sensations). Sympathetically maintained pain is a type of neuropathic pain. This means that the problem lies in the pain-transmitting nerve itself. Examples of neuropathic pain are post-herpetic neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. We have suggested that FM is a generalized form of reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Unfortunately, these types of neuropathic pain respond poorly to the usual analgesic/anti-inflammatory medications.

Sympathetically maintained pain syndromes have strong experimental foundations. Studies performed in animals have shown that trauma may trigger relentless sympathetic hyperactivity and that in such instances the pain-transmitting nerves are altered and abnormally activated by norepinephrine (a phenomenon known as norepinephrine-evoked pain), thus starting a vicious cycle of sympathetic hyperactivity and pain.

FM has clear sympathetically maintained pain features. As discussed before, there is relentless sympathetic hyperactivity. There is frequent onset after physical or psychological trauma. There is widespread pain without underlying tissue damage accompanied by allodynia and paresthesias. The typical FM tender points reflect a state of generalized allodynia. It should also be noted that most FM tender points are located in the neck area, a zone very rich in sympathetic interconnections. Nowhere else in the body are the sympathetic cell bodies so near to the skin. Our recent findings (see sidebar) show that injections of tiny amounts of norepinephrine induce pain in FM patients, thus reinforcing the notion that FM is a sympathetically maintained pain syndrome.

    Treatment of Dysautonomia in Fibromyalgia

The realization of dysautonomia in FM demands a holistic approach for its treatment. We are not dealing with a localized ailment; rather, it is our main regulatory system that is not working properly.

Dysautonomia provides a plausible explanation for the reported beneficial effects of interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and graded aerobic exercises. These disciplines improve FM symptoms and also improve resting autonomic tone.

It also seems wise to ask patients to avoid the intake of adrenaline-like substances such as nicotine, caffeine-containing soft drinks, and coffee. Liberal intake of mineral water may help symptoms related to low blood pressure such as fatigue, dizziness, and faintness.

For this chronic illness with multiple complaints, is important to refrain from excessive use of medications. Therapy should be individualized and remain under a physician's supervision. Medications should be directed to improve sleep and autonomic balance. The main FM symptom, widespread pain, should be eased with centrally acting analgesics. Anti-inflammatory medications have little beneficial effects. It is clear that current analgesic therapy is insufficient in many cases. We have to direct our attention to anti-neuropathic medications, but again, currently available compounds are not satisfactory in many instances. Different types of anti-neuropathic drugs are in the developmental stage, and there is reason to believe that these new medications will also be effective for FM pain. There is much to be learned about the possible beneficial effects of eastern relaxation disciplines on ANS balance and on FM symptoms.

In conclusion, we can be optimistic. The FM enigma is in the process of being better understood. I am convinced that scientific evidence will eventually disprove FM non-believers. Both patients and heath care providers have to be daring and move away from the decrepit medical paradigm that views any illness without obvious structural damage as non-existent or as belonging to the realm of psychiatry. We need to adopt a scientifically holistic paradigm that recognizes the tight mind-body interactions in any chronic disease state. We have to be imaginative and develop different treatments for FM based on the unfolding new knowledge.

How can Obama put so much pressure on Israel? Are the jews finally losing their control over the US?

Before WWII the jews controlled almost all the european economies and the american economy. After the holocaust, jewish control over european economies virtually disappeared, but control over the american economy tightened with jewish immigrants from europe, and with it tightened the jewish grip over american foreign policy.

It has always been the duty of the american president since the formation of Israel to support the zionist movement, militarily, politically, and economically, and very rarely question its actions.

But here I see Obama attacking the Hebrew state, giving it warnings to stop building settlements, and showing it to be a deterrent to peace in the region. He is also trying to befriend the states which Israel is supposed to be at war with, like Iran.

Why is he able to do this in the first place? Is the reason that caused the US to support Israel unconditionally for 60 years no longer existent? How can Obama put so much pressure on Israel? Are the jews finally losing their control over the US?
Israel has got to stop the settlements and give the Palestinians a state. Intelligent people have been calling for this for decades. How can Obama put so much pressure on Israel? Are the jews finally losing their control over the US?
Would you expect anything less from a man who time and again sides with terrorists.
You shouldn't have read Mein Kampf. It tells lies.
Even crooks can have a falling out. But, most of this is for show. If obama emboldens muslim nations, then israel has a better excuse to attack those nations.
Are you kidding. LOL obama is now saying he to has jewish hertiage! HE supports the jews, well at least this week he does!
Just where did you get the idea that prewar Europe was controlled by jews? How ignorant are you?

The various national economies were controlled then as now, by corporate capitalists. That some of them were jews is merely coincidental; the vast majority were supposedly christian.

Israel has been supported by the United States for a number of good reasons. First there is the issue of simple justice, as the zionists who returned bought land in good faith and tried to settle in their ancestral homeland in peace. Look it up, oh ill informed one, and you will see that they bought swamp and desert that nobody wanted and made it flower.

Then there is the simple affinity of one democracy for another. Israel is not an exclusively jewish state. The problem is that those muslims who desire to participate are threatened and attacked by their own extremists, but there are muslims in the Knesset despite the acts of terrorism perpertrated against them. Given that no arab state has ever developed a workable democracy it is natural that we should look to the only one in the region for our hope.

Perhaps you feel that the jews should have allowed themselves to be destroyed in 1967, when the Arabs attacked them, or that they should not have taken the land the attacks were launched from to prevent further such incursions? Given the historical right of nations to retain what is gained by right of conquest, I find you hypocritical to the extreme.

Should the USA then return Texas, New mexico, Arizona and California to the Mexicans? You must think so to advance the rather superfluous arguments you are making.

In fact, Israel returned the Sinai to Egypt when that nation recognized Israel's right to exist. Since other muslim nations still refuse to do so, why should the Israelis even consider it?

Obam is trying to pacify the unpacifiable. He is wasting his time, but feels he must try. Good luck to him. As for you, try reading William Shirer and John Toland. They were eyewitnesses whose histories are trustworthy, and they say you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

So does Winston Churchill. So does John Gunther. They were there as well. You need to use better sources than the Protocals of the Elders of Zion, which is a proven forgery. Read Barbara Tuchman on that.

Tell whoever is filling your head with lies to shut up.

What involuntary muscles of the body helps control breathing, blood pressures, and digestion?

???What involuntary muscles of the body helps control breathing, blood pressures, and digestion?
It is actually the Autonomic Nervous System(ANS) that controls all these actions like breathing, blood pressure, etc. What involuntary muscles of the body helps control breathing, blood pressures, and digestion?
    Smooth muscle
There a involuntary muscles present in the respiratory tract e.g. trachea and bronchi that control the respiration..That's the reason its difficulty to breathe in asthma where there is severe contraction of these muscles...

Blood pressure is controlled by contraction and relaxation of smooth muscles in the blood vessels...contraction raises the blood pressure where as relaxation lowers it...

The involuntary muscles of respiratory system do not directly control the digestion...Rather they contract and relax rhythmically (peristalsis) to push the food down the digestive tract...

But all these muscles are under the control of Nervous System...
    diaphragm?
