What foods should you eat to control High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol?

Also, what food shoulds you avoid, is there a diet plan that combines the 2 problems?What foods should you eat to control High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol?
For Cholesterol:


1. **Oatmeal


2. Fiber/whole grains - Any type like whole grain bread, fruits and vegetables


3. Fortified orange juice - 8 oz with meals


4. Beans


5. Nuts


6. Soy


7. Cheerios





For blood pressure:


1. Reduce salt intake by avoiding canned foods, soups. They contain too much salt/sodium.


2. Eat foods high in potassium - bananas, potatoes, avocados, tomato juice, grapefruit juice, and acorn squash.


3. Eat calcium and magnesium rich foods - low-fat milk, green beans, sardines with bones, broccoli, spinach, tofu, navy beans and sunflower seeds.


4. Lower your saturated fat intake.

you should eat whole grains like cheerios.....or whole wheat bread... less saturated fat like that is found in junk food or red meat.......





also lower the sodium intake.......





also try adding soy protein to your diet.....
I'm not too sure about the high blood pressure but I know from having borderline high cholesterol that eating 1cup of oatmeal every day helps, reduce the fat intake of all foods. Your gonna have to read labels, if your a milk drinker go to 1% or skim.





Go to the American Heart Associations website, they have alot of information about both topics, which is where I went when I was diagnosed, I was even able to order a low fat for cholesterol problems cook book!
