How do you control high blood pressure in the last few weeks of pregnancy?

was told not to use sodium. But there is nothing that has no sodium in it. How much is safe to use. Legs and feet are swelling, and am afraid of getting toxemia. How do you control high blood pressure in the last few weeks of pregnancy?
Keep a tape measure handy to measure your ankles and call your OB/GYN, Dr or Midwife if you feel concerned and give them the measurement and your description and how your feeling.

Remember a prescription medication could be given to help you out these last few weeks that would be safe for you and baby.

';Floating'; in luke warm bath water for an hour or so, for several times a day is what was recommended to me by my doctor and it did help me. I actually used to stay in for 2 hours at a time. Lying down and listening to meditation or peaceful music tapes, concentrating on just breathing and relaxing was recommended and helpful.

Eating all natural, steamed foods may not be fun, but will meet the No sodium requirement. Seasoned with ';No Salt'; a low sodium salt, herbs %26amp; spices...you'll be able to make it the last few weeks. Hang in there!

Don't hesitate to call your Doctor or triage Nurse or Midwife, as that's actually part of their job and responsibility. If you never have before, you're probably the only client in the practice that hasn't!

Blessings to you and your (old and New) family! How do you control high blood pressure in the last few weeks of pregnancy?
ELEVATE YOUR LEGS THEM ON PILLOWS ON A CHAIR , COUCH , BED ..THIS WILL HELP BUT THEY MUST BE HIGH UP ABOVE YOUR HEART ..I HAD SWELLING FEET AND LEGS FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THIS DID HELP..ALSO DR COULD PRESCRIBE TED HOSE !
Drink ';real'; green tea. That's how my hubby lowers it!!! find loose green tea and steep in just boiled water for 3 mins. and enjoy :)
eat cheerios
Sodium is the least of your problems. I'd have serious concerns about toxemia, or at least PIH (pregnancy-induced hypertension).

Most of the obstetricians I know would consider inducing labor if the blood pressure remained high. You should also be tested for toxemia (also known as pre-eclampsia) by a urine protein test.

I'd bother the obstetrician a little more about insuring that you don't have toxemia. That's a bad condition that can cause serious problems, and if your baby is mature enough to be born, maybe it's time to get him/her out.

Good luck!
